I respect the hell out of her for doing something about it. She could have just told her story and been done with it but she actually went out there and changed shit.

She produces a podcast called “trapped in treatment” that discusses some of these facilities. She doesn’t host it but does speak on it at times. I thought it was good! Her continued action on this cause is very respectable.

Wow, first time hearing her troubles in the system. Isn’t it fucking insane that the rich outsource child abuse to these 3rd parties? I find it hard believing the parents who send their teens to these kind of places actually care about their children, and it’s hard to find sympathy.
The way the media painted her in the 2000s is fucking awful, just hearing this

Tween me never would have believed that I would end up seeing Paris as a hero, Britney as a victim, and Gwen Stefani as just kind of boring.
This is an uplifting but surprising turn for anyone who is an elder millennial.

As someone who was sent to one of these “programs” 21 years ago, this brings tears to my eyes. She has helped me feel seen and heard, that my experience and trauma is valid.

Who’ve thunk it. Paris becomes the respectable Reality Star helping abused kids, yet Trump gets elected President.

Wait so all types of child abuse isn’t illegal? It’s 2025 and we’re still having to pass laws that say abusing children is wrong? WTF
Say what you want but using your platform to actually make change is more than most celebrities do. More than just making money from a book and posting an Instagram story.

I read the bill, still trying to understand it. But the way I understand it:
1) create a map of all institutions housing minors across America
2) research and update restraint and seclusion policies
3) provide training for institution employees on how to deal with minors
Is that it? Are they going to do a whistleblower hotline?

Behind the Bastards did a series on the guy who “invented” the whole troubled teen rehab wilderness therapy camps industry, Steve Castisano.
It’s a horrible and far too unregulated industry that kills troubled teens and gets away with it because, well, they were troubled, so it’s easy to blame them and move on.
Most of it is really just horrible parents who raised and treated their kids wrong and then instead of facing that or changing their ways, decide to blame the child and pay armed men to kidnap their child and bring them to basically a prison camp for some “tough love”.

I’ll get downvoted for this, but there’s something really off about how everyone is so surprised that she’s an intelligent and respectable person just because she’s portrayed herself as hyper feminine her whole life. If you actually look at what she’s done and been through in her life, it’s not surprising at all. But some of you look at her and only see blond hair, pink shoes, and a vocal fry. Shes the real life Elle Woods and you’re all a bunch of Warners.

I mean good for her. It is a huge step for her healing journey and for kids who are still forced into these institutions. But it sucks that she probably only got what she wanted because she’s rich and could afford to pay off the right people.
