In 1978, Congress passed a law allowing airlines to set their own fares and routes, an event that transformed the commercial airline industry and the passenger experience. It used to be the case that they way airlines competed with each other was by offering better cabin experiences, however after deregulation, it’s now all about efficiency, cutting costs and increasing profits.

Last time I flew, I had an Emirates flight, with 3 meals and a couple drinks included with the flight ticket.
