I’ve noticed it seems to be an API thing of sorts… like the app doesn’t check if they’re on/offline all that often, but one of the things that prompts it to do so is when you try to interact with the person. That’s only a hunch though…
The friend might feel overwhelmed and have anxiety, so don’t take it personally. It might be the friend who is in hurt.
I sometimes am online longer than I intended too and take what ever kind of notification I get as an “okay, that’s it, no step further” and jump out of the figuratively window. And I am no fan of any hey n bye kind of conversation also.
It hurts 😔
