Will starting saying how much the military loses. Problem is, it actually “quite literally” loses money all the time.
The USPS would actually make money if the ridiculous mandate from Congress that they prefund something like 75 years worth of pensions would be removed. A mandate that no other government service, no government agency, nor anything else has. The Republicans put that mandate in place as part of their efforts to run the postal service into the ground so it can be sold off and privatized.
The USPS is the only government service specifically mentioned in the Constitution and is completely self supporting, it does not get any taxpayer funding. They are mandated to deliver to every American no matter where they are in the country and without the USPS people in rural areas would have no way of getting mail, parcels, etc. as the commercial delivery companies such as UPS and FedEx don’t deliver to a lot of places because it’s not profitable for them to do so. USPS provides last mile service for packages that were shipped via the commercial companies to the areas that the commercial companies don’t service.

I’d really have to rate the Pentagon pretty low. Vietnam didn’t go so well, Afghanistan lasted 29 years for it to end up as it started and they still have troops in and around Iraq.

I mean. I say that about the military all the time. Like almost everytime I say the word military, I also say something about it losing money. I don’t think the post office loses money, they provide me with a real service.
The USPS successfully delivers packages.

To be fair though, the military does actually lose a shit load of money every year. The Pentagon literally can’t account for billions in spending.
If I did that I’d spend the rest of my life in prison.
I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but there are places only USPS goes. People are going to be really sorry when the things they voted for start being implemented.

The right wants it privatized have for years. I suspect the great and powerful DOGE will recommend that the USPS be parceled out to one of the billionaire Trump cocksuckers so that they can milk it for yet more money.

The USPS ran in the black for decades. Then sometime in the eighties some of our illustrious “leaders” decided that the post office shouldn’t have a surplus, so they passed a law allowing politicians to have access to the surplus money, and now they run in the red.

Of course it loses money. Many services make a profit – hairstylists, consultants, FedEx. The military doesn’t charge for its services directly, that much is true. They would be mercenaries if they did. The USPS does charge for its services directly. Part of the reason for its popularity could be due to it being subsidized heavily.

The military doesn’t LOSE money — it just can’t account for about half it’s budget.

Post office has been out competed by private entity. Any private entity than can offer a service more effectivley than the government should be looked at.
THEY MANUFACTURED THIS PROBLEM BY REQUIRING THE USPS FUND PENSIONS OUT FOR 75 YEARS. THE USPS WAS SOLVENT BEFORE THIS DECISION MADE TO ELICT THE RESPONSE IT GETS.

Technically the USPS is supposed to be self-funded and sustainable.
However, due to mismanagement over the past ~50 years, it hasn’t been for ages.
In 2021 they undertook a 10-year plan to streamline and modernize operations to stop losing money.
It’s not that simple and they’re incorrect in their statement.
The difference is that USPS not only loses money, but they hide behind the government to shut out competition that could do the job better.
Whereas military cannot be privatized for obvious reasons beyond work contracts, USPS absolutely should complete.

This must be old as the current USPS is a sad joke.
USPS is also has a store front like a buisness. It cost money out of pocket to send things thru the mail. So to say they are losing money, is fair. If they had to operate like a buisness without government subsidy they wouldn’t last more than a couple months. I’m not saying get rid of them, either.
