I’ve never played Star Citizen before, but like, hasn’t this game been in development for 10 years and STILL not out, even with a combined $750M investment?

I’d ask at what point is it too much time and money for a game that still doesn’t have a projected release date, but it seems like that line was passed years ago.ย

This will forever be archived into the history of best memes of all time. Just like can it run crisis? And we got this to play Doom. Comes Star Citizen! It made more money than God. By the mid 2020s it was approaching $1B USD in funding. What would shock fans and developers alike would be the continued support well into the 2030s/2040s. 2041 would be the FULL RELEASE……….of the BETA pre build version 99. Reaching new heights with monetization, entire galaxies could be bought and sold for millions. STARlord1985 would be crowned the wealthiest star citizen player in history by pumping nearly $25B in a single transaction. Making Star Citizen the biggest digital project in human history. Now in 2045 at $420B raised, the universe awaits the day still, of a final playable release.

I remember when NMS failed on launch, thinking that it would be a great opportunity to finally get this game out and capitalize on the situation. the fact it’s 8 years later and there’s still no end in sight is crazy.

This just shows how much gamers are bored with rehashed franchises and the boundaries that corporatized gaming imposes. The promise of something new and groundbreaking, no matter how far and unlikely it may seem, makes them get on board if there is even a little chance of succeeding.
That said, Star Citizen may have taken on more than it could chew way too fast – I read that a single city on one single planet that they were developing was already bigger than all the game worlds’ cities combined at that time. And they wanted to build many such cities, bringing an entire galaxy to life. They should have started smaller and reiterated.

I swear people are so hive minded and just jump on bandwagons cause they think it’s cool. I’ve actually played the game and as a fan of space sims go Star Citizen is hands down the best one. For the record, I paid 45$ for the game which comes with a ship and from there I earned enough money to buy myself several other ships, some that go for hundreds of dollars on the market and I could see myself acquiring one of the thousand real dollar value ships with in game ,money in a matter of a month or two if I’d have kept playing.
A few caveats though, I did, at the time have pretty beefy system and yeah, it had a few bugs but man, the game was so cool. I had the equivalent of a space pickup truck. I’d load my mining rig into the back of it and go off and explore planets to extract minerals from them and then sell those minerals for money to buy more ships but they had a lot going on beyond that.
One time I broke the law by trespassing on this planetary base and got arrested. I wound up in jail and decided to break out and it was super cool! There’s a whole breaking out of jail scenario and although it wasn’t really tough to figure out the way out of the jails it was a bit more tricky once you got into the cave system and you’re searching for a way out to the surface and of course once you get to the surface you don’t have a ship so… that’s another problem.
Or that time I got stranded on a base because someone blew up my parked ship so I positioned myself under the base with a sniper and waited for the dude that blew me up to come out of his ship, snipe him and then steal his ship.
the flying is good too and I was about to get into the racing scene but they had a huge update and it killed all of my custom controls for my hotas setup and I haven’t felt like re-doing them. My fault for not saving them I guess. Either way, Star Citizen is a fantastic game and people that like to shit on it are doing so out of complete ignorance in the vast majority of scenarios. I’m not saying it’s a perfect game either, not everyone is going to be happy with it but I sure as hell was and I’d have no problem recommending it to anyone that has a fairly good gaming rig and that really loves a good space sim game.

Not alot to show for that 750,000,000. Some pretty clouds and a game that plays like it’s held together by duct tape after over a decade. At least the offices look cool.
People downvoting are seriously coping. Defend a company that for over 10+ years hasn’t met a single deadline or release window yet is almost 1Bil made and the game barely functions.
