while steam is cool and everything you still don’t own the games there, it’s still just a license. Currently there are basically 2 ways to own your games: GOG or piracy.

The Xbox/Microsoft store on PC does exactly this though, two people can play off the same licence at the same time, 3 or 4 more with an Xbox

Read the Steam’s EULA before shilling Valve. They’re one of the force for good in the PC gaming industry, but in this specific case they work exactly like EA from a legal pov. Their intensions might be different, but you also don’t own steam games.

i have a group of friends that hate the new steam change, they used to share games, but now they can’t (they aren’t from the same countries)
I mean steam is pretty much the same as not owning the games just licenses.
The best store in that regard is GOG, they even update old games to keep them playable on new systems, and yes is GOG who are updating those games like SWAT 4 or Diablo 1
