Well, the previous person in charge of the military under Trump’s first term wouldn’t shoot BLM protestors in the legs, so this time around Trump made sure to hire someone who would have no problem giving that order.
I really do wonder if it came down to it, and it was the US military vs the citizens of the US, if the military would go against their orders and protect civilians. If they didn’t, with the drone technology the US possesses alone it would go from a civil war to a civil slaughter very quickly.
Don’t read the news to know which side the military will be on. Read a history book instead.
When he is literally already stacking the top leadership with loyal sycophants and will likely have all the non-loyal generals replaced shortly enough?
It’s not a guessing game, it’s all part of the plan.
Like so much else that has been corrupted in US conservatism, extremist christianity has been a major inducement to radicalization and it should be no surprise right-wing christian groomers have been extremely active in the armed forces for decades, so it’s a toss up. Either way, you can be sure radicalized soldiers have already put together lists of who they think will be loyal to the constitution (and so disloyal to Trump) and they’ll be purged like everyone else.
It’s time to physically flood DC. Every American. To DC. Trample DC.

The military isn’t going to stop Trump, especially not without popular support. The Republicans in congress sure as hell aren’t going to stop Trump. Democrats are too weak to do anything at all.
It’s up to you. Protest, boycott, strike, and yes even arm yourself. You have a second amendment right to do so.

From what I’ve seen, they’re mostly on their side, but they’re also taking a lot of what they say at face value, something they didn’t do as much just one guy ago. Party loyalty is a hell of a bitch.
Generals are a cut above your normal soldier. They are actual patriots who have and will fight for their country. They may be in favor of Trump and they may really like the power he gives them, but I’m willing to bet that some point when Trump starts sending the military to shoot civilians we will have actual patriots who will stand up.
When i was in the army i was astonished how many southerners asked me if i was from canada. (I enlisted out of the state of Maine). That being said my hopes arent high.
The military is largely apolitical and basically full of Band of Brothers fans, so I’m optimistic.

Mark my words, under him there will be a small scale civil war, he will unleash a constitutional crisis which severely splits the country in two. The National Guard will be deployed in all major cities to combat protestors. Innocent people will die and suffer. His legacy will end soon after and someone from the inner circle will take him out but it will be presented as if he had a heart attack or some other medical issue. From there on who knows what will happen, not sure if democracy can survive after him, if it does the US will redefine itself, maybe even states declaring independence. Next few years are going to be wild, buckle up.

Question: does the president have the power to pardon soldiers who don’t follow orders and land in jail?
If so, cant the next Administration (assuming), just pardon soldiers who refuse to, say, fight alongside Russia against Ukraine? Can soldiers just… not do that? They have the bodily autonomy to just peacefully protest.

The US military isn’t exactly Nazi Germany’s military. The demographics aren’t in favor of total military cooperation. The US doesn’t have the demographics of Nazi Germany. Also, they’ve been inflating the number of people who support Trump and fascism. The world is moving on and will continue to move on. History says the end won’t be kind to these people no matter how much they think they’ve got it in the bag.
