Dude got paroled, but has to wait until 2028 to be released. Alaska is weird.
He was a career criminal who caught a charge himself for endangering the welfare of a minor. He didn’t just assault the sex offenders either, he robbed them. He was a meth addict using the same method serial killers use to target their victims: pick a target on the fringe of society (in this case sex offenders) to make it less likely to be caught. This guy used the pain of sex abuse victims in an attempt to veil the criminal activity he participated in to feed his addiction.
If you love your job you never work a day in your life.
I know that justified hatred of pedophiles seems to give Redditors a free pass in publicly getting a hard-on for wanton violence and murder, but idk, I don’t think this is a feel-good story.
Shoutout to the people who may have been wrongly convicted.
This is a story that raises more questions than answers. Life is always more complicated than black and white.

Most people will be empathetic to his cause, but hear me out, there’s always that one kid that did stupid stuff or got framed, and got on the list not actually being a sex offender. If he kills 10 sex offenders and 1 innocent person is that not messed up? I don’t know…..
I hope none of his victims were just people who got caught going to the bathroom somewhere because they couldn’t hold it

Nah, but honestly if he targeted pedos and rapists I’m all for it. The problem is people get registered as sex offenders for some things that don’t deserve that title imo. But in general I have no issue with rapists and pedos getting a hammer to the head
The problem is that, as far as I know, the Sex Offender’s Registry does not say the crime or situation. You could have urinated in public and all of a sudden he’s breaking into your house to kill you. In some jurisdictions, two teenagers can get on the registry for having sex with each other before either turns 18, meaning its possible for 2 high school students to be put on the registry, and then for him to target thrm thinking he’s doing good. This is why vigilanteism is illegal.
Yeahhhh. Hope he did his homework. A lot of people on those lists just pissed next to a playground at night. I’m not exaggerating. A LOT of people are on the list for the weirdest reasons.
do offender registries list their crimes? like im not sad for rapists getting bashed, but ive heard people getting on the registry for pissing “in public”, i.e pissing on a building in a dark corner after a night of drinking.
18 y/o senior dating a 17 y/o junior caught having sex can and are on that list.

This is NOT the same thing as Luigi. Sex offenders list is an absolute joke. Who knows who he killed that may be a public urinator and they would be innocent to shit like this. Vigilantism is only great when you can without a shadow of a doubt prove that the criminal is completely guilty. What not having a collective conscious does to mfer

You guys realize many people are on the sex offender registry for relatively minor offenses right. Just because you’re on that list doesn’t mean you’re a child rapist.
This comment is probably not gonna be well received by Americans, but I find the whole concept of a public sex offender registry pretty fucking draconian.

Hmm. I don’t think this is at all productive if they aren’t currently offending, which if that was knowledge that was available they would probably not be free.
There are essentially two lenses I have to view this through. The Ideal and the Real. IDEALLY, the legal system would be about rehabilitation. It would be about making it so that no one commits those crimes again. Meaning what he is doing is just base murder or assault or whatever happened to his victims who have paid their debt to society and all that, and are being actively monitored to an extent.
The Real is that there does exist a world where what he has done is necessary, but that comes back to them needing to be currently offending again. Our legal system does not rehabilitate. Often going through it makes a criminal worse. Applied to sex offenders, I’m sure you can see the problem, and view this as a solution.
The problem is that he has no real ability to determine if they are currently offending. This isn’t a TV show, he’s not a fucking super detective. So yeah. It’s just, not good all around, really.
I, of course, do not particularly see the point of mindlessly and emptily hurting people. Even bad ones. I don’t think it’s worth anything. I don’t think it’s a good thing to do. For so many reasons, one of the major ones being false sentencing. It happens a lot. Innocent people are often harmed by the legal system. A vigilante is likely to make that reality far worse. But also I just think it’s pointless. It doesn’t unharm their victims. It’s just another self satisfying evil act, but you are psychologically tricking yourself into it being permissible because of the target. If a harmful act does not even measurably improve the world/society, it is not something that I can condone.
Meaning of course that if it does, I perhaps could. Depending on the circumstances
