My boyfriend has a lot of his old prints. I never knew he was as political as he was….but his political works and his take on overall society are pretty spot on

There was a version of this character in the 1950’s live-action Dr. Seuss film, “The 5,000 Fingers of Dr. T”. They were wearing roller-skates instead of swastikas, but they were still conjoined at the beard.

I still can’t believe people were surprised at Elons Sieg Heil when “AMERICA FIRST” has been a neo-nazi american slogan for 100 years now!

The missing connection is they are both pieces of shit. It’s not very perplexing.
Note that America First were isolationists, not Nazi sympathizers – America First disbanded right after the attack on Pearl Harbor and ex-members supported the war effort.
Seuss followed the US government’s line in this propaganda poster, deliberately blurring the difference between America First and the Nazi-supporting German-American Bund.
America First’s most famous member, aviator Charles Lindberg, toured Nazi Germany in 1936 and 1938, hosted by high officials of the Nazi government who were overjoyed at having such a celebrity as their guest. He wasn’t there because he supported their cause, though – he was sent by the US government, on a secret mission to gather intelligence on German military air power developments.

For those not familiar with the America First movement, Rachel Maddow did a nice podcast about it a few years back, entitled ULTRA.

Didn’t Dr. Seuss cheat on his wife, driving her to suicide, then marry his mistress? Like, I’m glad you found a picture you liked, but Seuss was not a great moral barometer. He was employed to create “US Patriotic Art.” He was a propagandist. For pay. They’d say “Knock up something about such and such, here’s a fifty” and he’d piss off and draw it.
