I swear I saw it as white and gold at first, then it turned blue and black at some point and it never came back

Every year in my history class I ask my students to write a short paragraph describing this dress. When it eventually turns into a shouting match over what color it is, I use it as an example of how perspective shapes the way history is viewed.
I have only ever seen black and blue. I’ve tried looking at this image in so many different ways. I have no idea anybody sees white and gold.

This definitely happened about a year ago… Surely? It cannot be 10 years!
So I’ve always seen this full picture as white and gold. I could never trick my brain into seeing the blue and black and kind of thought it was trolling bullshit. I happened to scroll down so I could only see the bottom quarter or so of the picture and I see that as blue and black. What a mindfuck.
EDIT: Now my brain has decided the whole picture is blue and black. There is no going back.
Yeah see whatever you want in the photo but the actual physical dress was black and blue.
I remember thinking everyone in my entire dorm was gaslighting me. I was the only one who could only see blue and black. I thought I was going insane. I can see both now lol

I know the actual dress is black and blue, but the photo has always looked like a white and gold dress photographed with a yellowish indoor light behind it and with the bluish light of a window shining on the front of it. Never once have I seen the gold parts turn black.
We are NOT doing this shit again 🤣

No matter how many of the tests and things I’ve tried in the comments where people say it caused the colors to shift for then, for the entire decade I’ve solely seen it as green and purple, you all are just weird
Fuck me, I just finally saw it white and gold for the first time seeing this post and it almost instantly transformed to blue and black and I’m convinced it’s the same effect of looking at a coloured image and then looking at a black and white one straight after so the colours from the first one are “transferred” to the new one as our eyes adjust to the change.
The right side of the image has the white and gold (gold is from the warm lights in the background) tones that initially made the whole dress look that way.
Now that is blue and black for me I can’t get it to go the other way again.
Sometimes i saw it white and gold sometimes i saw it blue and black.
