It should be a scandal for high brow critics who for so long have regarded horror movies with disdain, that one of the greatest films of the twentieth century (i.m.o.) fits squarely within that category. Director Jack Clayton’s 1961 adaptation of Henry Jame’s haunting novella is peerless in all dimensions: Expertly paced, beautifully acted, and superbly shot in rich tones of black and white by Freddie Francis, it also boasts a screenplay by William Archibald and Truman Capote. This movie will stay with you long after you see it.

Based on Henry James’ *Turn of the Screw* and a screenplay by Truman Capote!

Do you guys think they’re really haunted, or was it all made up in the repressed baroness’s head?
