That’s only half the sentiment, really it’s “We want original movies, that don’t suck”

We used to be able to catch original movies before their theatrical release ended. Original movies need word of mouth to gain any traction. These days they are kicked out of theaters after a couple of weeks. If you have to kill it on the first weekend then there has to be a built-in audience .

Production companies are afraid to innovate because being original comes with a huge risk. Its safer to stick with what history has told them is successful.

Which leads to good directors like Ridley Scott doing shit sequels like Gladiator II. He seems to think all his films should be blockbusters, and when they’re not, he whines and then makes Alien Covenant. The Last Duel is a great film, it’s just not meant to be a blockbuster. Scott needs to realize not all great films are blockbusters. You’d think he’d know that after making one such film early in his career, Blade Runner.

Come on, more than half of the movies screened in our theaters are sub-parr prequels or sequels (I’m mostly thinking about Mufasa and Gladiator II, but I’m going to go on a stretch and say Sonic 3 is probably not that good)

I’m pretty sure Sonic 3 is beating Mufasa. But I get it, spreading misinformation is way more fun

I’ve been spending time this winter holiday catching up on old movies. There are so many good original movies out there. I guess the hard part is just finding them.
Movies ive recently see: no country for old men, apocalypto, American fiction, the holdovers, renfield

Matrix was an original movie, the cinemas weren’t empty, Lord of the Rings (& the heavy inspired one, called Harry Potter), also made a lot of cinemas, full… hell even sleeping beauty with Angelina Jolie, was fire… we don’t want sh*ty movies, them being original or remakes.
