The discourse online is so annoying right now. Isnt a ceasefire with hostages coming home what both sides wanted? Shouldn’t we be happy that no one else is dying at least for now?

Every single one that gets home safe is great news.
So the guys with the green headbands are Hamas? Why does it look like they are fully suited and booted and have nice gear on ? All the other pictures I have seen of them have been plain clothes looking like some rebels. Sorry if this is a dumb question
My first thought reading the headline was, “Great, here we go with some progress toward peace.”
Then I looked more closely at the photo. Everything about that situation looks terrifying. Kudos to the Red Cross workers putting their lives on the line for these hostages.
I thought the first person was making a bad joke. But it’s clear there is a narrative forming. Anyone who believes that this is Israel pretending to be Hamas is fucking insane.
I’m thankful they get to go home.

Ultimately what was the point of Hamas’ attack? Gaza is in rubbles. Their leader is dead along with tens of thousands civilians. This was all so stupid.

It’s so amazing to me that in an image of dozens of armed, masked men surrounding a terrified young hostage, people immediately what-aboutism to the bad thing’s the hostage’s country has done.
Its an awful corner of the world full of hate and violence, both sodes of the conflict are dull of horrific acts, any efforts towards peace should be commended.

The video clips and photos show plenty of standing buildings and well-fed terrorists. Not what genocide looks like. Perhaps because it was always Hamas that held the Gazans captive, taking aid and food and following the warlord playbook of doling it out to their own.
