If the guy was making $150k a year and putting his all into making healthcare accessible to everyone, struggling to get all the coverage extended and trying to get everyone treated as best he could, I might be a little more sympathetic.
In reality, everyone like him is wealthy ($40M+ net worth) because they cover as little as possible to provide a semblance of โInsuranceโ, turning each rejected case or cut corner into dividends for themselves. We are human. They are not like us.
I donโt condone violenceโฆ but I understand it. And I think heโs just the tip of the iceberg of what is to come. People are fed up, angry, and sick of seeing people like him thriving while they scrape by on the scraps.

He was a human being with a family, who didn’t give a shit about the suffering of other people except that it was something he could profit off like the parasite he was. Don’t expect too many shits back. Seriously, “oh but I had to do it for the shareholders” is just the modern version of “I was only following orders”. Fuck him and his kind. He was one of the ghouls pressing for any trade deal with the UK to involve access to the National Health Service. I have zero sympathy for anyone who wants to impose that kind of dystopian kleptocracy on other countries after doing so much damage to his own.

I’m sorry, but fuck this nonsense of not being able to celebrate people’s deaths. Some people are just legitimately awful human beings who are a net negative to the world. She they might have families and friends and they might be very nice to them, but they’re grief doesn’t erase all the damage that person did in their lives.

Healthcare is paid every damn month so people can be covered if they have a medical issue pop up. Most of the time, it gets denied because some assholes (not even a doctor) decides that the patient “doesn’t need it”. If I got cancer tomorrow, I would be screwed because id have no way of paying it, and they would just deny me the treatment I need BECAUSE I cant pay it. I think those middlemen are evil, greedy, disgusting people who I feel no sympathy for. This guy bragged about stealing money, its no wonder someone got tired of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if the shooter turned out to be a victim of that CEO and his greed.

In US, guns are a right, not healthcare. If they want me to feel bad for their loss, I take PayPal/Venmo/Zelle etc. besides cash.

You know how whenever universal healthcare gets talked about in the US and there is always someone who starts fear mongering about the so-called “death panels” that supposedly exist where doctors get to decide who lives and who dies based on how expensive their treatment is because universal healthcare bad?
Insurance companies in the US are literally already doing that. They are *already* death panels. They already get to decide whether their clients live or die by denying them life-saving procedures.

It’s not the murder that I’m happy about. Murder is wrong, full stop. Morally, legally, whatever.ย
But him not existing? I am unbothered. I feel bad for any young children in his family but any independent adults in the family have to already know how much death and suffering this man’s company causes for profit on a daily basis. In my mind, his grip on a massive force that causes death and suffering is simply now ended. Will someone better take over? Probably not! And if not, I will not call for their murder but I won’t be bothered by their death.

I don’t wish suffering on anyone… but my stepdad was “covered” by UnitedHealthcare for much of the time he had cancer (he passed away last year). After the hell they put my family through, denying things even after pre-approving them, or the letter they sent, denying coverage for chemo because though his oncologist said he would live for several more months “the outcome would remain the same”… I just can’t work up even an iota of sympathy for Mr. Thompson or his family. He made a living defrauding sick people, stealing from the most vulnerable people so he could line the pockets of investors who were already rich. You can’t be pure evil for 10 hours a day, then expect me to think “oh gosh I feel differently about him now” after a quirky anecdote about 15 minutes in which he wasn’t plainly evil. He, and people like him, are a cancer on society. I have no doubt that we’re going to find out in the coming days that his evil empire denied cancer coverage to the shooter, to the shooter’s wife, or to the shooters kids, we don’t know exactly which evil things UHC did to draw the shooter’s attention, but that’s only because UnitedHealthcare does so much evil stuff on any given day that it’s a mystery which evil decision amongst millions of other evil decisions they made that would have caused someone to feel like he stole a life from them, so they’ll steal one from him.
I don’t condone violence, but I’ve been through the hell Brian Thompson inflicted on so many families, so… I understand.

As a fun side note, blue cross blue shield is setting up a system where they will refuse to pay for anesthesia past a certain duration in surgeries. Your surgery lasts longer than planned because your surgeon noticed a weird mass in your abdomen? Enjoy your extra payment!
Their ceo also has a net worth roughly 7x that of United Healthcareโs ceo. Just felt like making that information public.
Edit: CEO of Anthem, which falls under BCBS, for clarification.
