I’ve spent quite a bit of time in Kherson, one of Ukraine’s most important cities. People must move cautiously and spend nights sleeping in their basements. Cars and busses are unusable due to Russian attacks targeting anything that moves. Anywhere that gets enough foot traffic is blown to bits.
There is simply no way that voting could be carried out in Kherson, far too many people would die. In Kharkiv, this would also be very difficult. Elections cannot be carried out.

What are you doing about it? It’s not _only_ about Ukraine, nor about Europe, it’s about your own country. Are you going to just keep watching and complaining while your country is slipping into a full dictatorship, or are you going to do something? All these decades talking about freesom this and freedom that, and now will you just sit and wait quietly like a herd of sheeps while your country becomes a dictatorship and side with other tyrants in the world…? Are you ok with it ?
Because I can’t see anyone doing anything. I don’t doubt there’s a lot of good people there who don’t want this, but other than some people complaning, I see no one actively doing something about it. Pretty much like russians with putin, actually.

As a US citizen who has fought back against MAGA and Trump since came down the escalator in 2015, I am so fucking disappointed in my country. It is sad that so many people in my country were apathetic in 2024. Trump was elected by less than the majority of the US population. I wish people would have more common sense.
