I was watching a geopolitical analyst talking about the next century, shortages in fertiliser, food imports, power independence, fossil fuels, everything.
He basically stated the only nation in a good position is the US because they’re largely independent while their external needs for cheap labour (Mexico) and various critical imports (Canada) are right next door with good relations.

Yeah that wouldn’t happen for millions of reasons but even from political reasons in that Canada becoming a 51st state would basically be like adding a second California, and Republicans hate California. Canada would be a blue state. The population of Canada is slightly more than California, so that would mean that would add about roughly 55 additional electoral votes to Democrats in the presidential election, about 53 House of representatives many being Democrats and 2 additional Democrat Senators.
Trump might be dumb, but other Republicans wouldn’t allow that to happen, let alone Canada theirselves.
