Frederick Banting who discovered insulin sold his patent to the University of Toronto for one dollar . He said it would be unethical to profit from his discovery . Big Pharma can go to hell.

50 dollars is quite an improvement over thousands, don’t expect it to become free very fast either because of the way the Pharma industry works

Luckily Eli Lilly products (Lantus, Humalog, and their generics also by Eli Lilly, etc) are now capped at $30 per month, whether you have insurance or not.

It would be great if politicians didn’t only care about things that personally affected them.

Idk if Abbott even signed it though. They got it to his desk, but I haven’t heard anything else about it. The scope was very narrow. It only applied to about 15 percent of Texans. It may have also been superceded by the inflation reduction act. Idk

Why limit this to insulin? Plenty of medications are ridiculously expensive in America. In other countries they’re usually cheaper because those countries governments negotiate the prices.

So the only way to get rid of the abortion ban is to rape somebody’s wife and let them deal with the police calling her and them a liar until she decides death is better than giving birth to a rapist’s baby or going to jail for self abortion? The “only matters when it happens to me, everyone telling me about it is a stinking liar making excuses to get goodies they don’t deserve” crowd only gives a fuck when it affects them personally.
