I know this _should_ be mildly infuriating, but to me a filthy bbq always feels like an opportunity. I find it immensely satisfying to clear out an old grill and clean it with fire. There’s something very cathartic about doing a very rough clean, then reducing everything inside to ash.
Why doesn’t he want to get rid of them?

About 450 temp and maybe about 8 or 9 mins on both sides. Seasoned with some old bay should hide some but not all taste. Good luck!
