The sidewalk rule?
My wife is clumsy as shit, I’m trying to keep her from falling into traffic.
Still wild to me that people design roads where cars can drive onto the sidewalk and get away scott free.
It’s about risk reduction. If I’m closer to the road I should detect and be able to react to a potential runaway car faster than if my partner was closer to the road. And because I’m between her and the danger I can either body block or more effectively move her out of danger.
It’s more for robbery, snatching up, men having quicker reactions to push her out the way from people like you
