Today’s lesson in how to think like a lawyer: Counter-Karenism 101.
Whenever someone uses a legal term to describe what happened to them, it wasn’t that bad. This is important for client interviews. If it were bad, they would tell you what happened. If it’s not bad, they’ll try to stretch a legal term so that what happened to them maybe barely fits.
Never be satisfied with being told they were “assaulted.” That’s times ten when they were “accosted.” That’s barely a legal term at all. It just means they got into a verbal disagreement. Always doubt a cop who says someone “resisted,” or anyone who says they were “harrassed,” without specifying what actually happened.
Remember, just the facts ma’am. Leave the legal judgments to the professionals.
