google cooking up the most inneficient route known to man (turns a 30 minute drive into a 5 hour road trip with a ferry)
Waze above all GPS nav
it selects the most fuel-efficient route iirc
I was on a Florida beach trip not long ago and a friend was coming from Texas city where there are lots of toll roads. They had their GPS set to try to avoid toll roads and forgot to turn it off. When they were trying to get to the beach, it took them 2 hours out of the way to avoid a $1 toll.
There is a setting to avoid tollsÂ

6 years ago, apple maps was the butt of jokes. Now I’m convinced it does navigation better than google maps, which is insane because google has been the gold standard since 3G smartphones were out.
Now apple maps just needs to let me import all the saved places from google maps…
