Yeah

fuck all these USB ports, give me back my toslink digital out.

Trust me, you want the HDMI out for troubleshooting your graphics card.

1. Adds more cost
2. Most people don’t use them
3. More lanes dedicated to the drives so either overall slower usb/ethernet or less options for storage/lice drives.
4. Rear Io is typically harder to access
5. People use other ports on rear Io other than USB, HDMI for example is a very useful port similar with the speakers option.

Take a look at AsRock livemixer board its ton usb and even a toslink

Simple, it would eat up essentially all the PCIe bandwidth available if it didn’t put all of the ports on the same controller at which point it starts looking the point of having that many when you can just get a hub.

USB Hubs exist.

Give me like 10 usb C ports

You’re in the vast minority of people they would use all of those. And I don’t even believe you’d use them all

What? No Ps2 ports?

It just dosent look right I tell thee.

You removed HDMI, DP, and digital audio; and only added one (1) USB-C. Terrible idea

no displayport?

There was once a time when a PC case could’ve had USB ports galore, even SD card and CD readers, but you bastards genocided the 5.25″ bay cases and nearly drove them to extinction in favor of tempered glass and aesthetics. Now only a few of us are left to care for this dying breed.

What would you even use them for? List 25 USB devices that you need to be connected to your PC at the same time.

EDIT:

I’ll help everyone with a list even if it is unrealistic that you would even own all these and you would by no means be able to use all of them at the same time.

1. Mouse

2. Keyboard

3. Headphones

4. Speakers

5. Microphone

6. Webcam

7. Controller

8. Fight/Arcade Stick

9. Steering Wheel

10. Pedals

11. Joystick

12. Throttle

13. VR Headset

14. VR controller

15. Printer

16. Disk Drive

17. LAN adapter

18-25. 8 external SSDs to store all the “content” you like to enjoy on your VR headset

I’m quite fine with mine tbh.

I have a PCIE card with 8 ports on it

I know this is basically circlejerk subreddit at this point, but the reason is because motherboards have limited amount of USB controllers, in fact they don’t have enough even for what you see already. You can always expand the ports with a USB-hub, but the manufacturer provides what should *work*

Not enough PCIe lanes even in modern chipsets for AM5 not enough lanes

Keep the optical bro

*Slaps roof of Mobo*

This bad boy can fit alot of USBs on it.

Sorry, but the S/PDIF stays

Men only want one thing and it’s absolutely fucking reasonable

As an ITX guy we want the same things but I don’t have a dog in this fight.

Yes!

YES! I hate the lack of USB ports in motherboards.

I saw something like that I can’t remember where. In all honesty if you need that much of USB ports get some hub like:

In all honesty no consumer chipset gives that much of lanes and you will be end up using some kind of switch/hub solution any way with limited bandwidth, so get an external one and you will have the perk of easier access and we both no speed is no issue for most thing you would plug.

Add a PS/2 port and replace the mic in with a Digital Out and I’m buying this, my motherboard already has a dozen usb ports and I’m using ALL of the ones that aren’t USB C and none that are USB C

My ass would be perpetually online looking for useless shit to buy and fill up on the ports

ASUS boards are like that but the catch is you have an ASUS board

The sell USB expansion cards that can crank out whatever level USB and just plug directly into a PCIe slot you know?

I want a good am5 mobo without WI-FI man, is that too much to ask?

Its a limitation of pcie lanes. You want more USB ports, you lose other stuff, like m.2 slots and pcie slots

# X670E GAMING PLUS WIFI

The reason i bought this one was precisely because of all the ports and 2.5G
The USB-C goes straight to my monitor which has another 4 USB ports built in like a hub.

If you have an empty PCI-E slot (most of you do), you could add a USB expansion card/USB hub like this

Naw man, I definitely want a few more display ports also… Then like 1 HDMI as a backup. Display ports are just so damn good.

I hate you for removing the SPDIF Port. It is a shitty connector but by far the best in terms of quality retention.
