Always hated this. The “average American” is different than “Americans on average”.

There are 335 million people in the US. At least one of them is missing a leg. Therefore, on average, Americans have less than two legs…

Not to mention the increased damage to our national debt.

Use an average and remove those pesky demographics and everything and everyone is great.

Of course it’s going to be a huge loss for someone. It’s impossible to maintain revenues AND reduce taxes for each person.

Moving from an income tax to tariffs and sales tax greatly increases the tax burden on the poor and lower middle class, while reducing the tax burden for the rich.

It could also push our economy into a death spiral. Since consumer goods will rise in price, non-essential spending will drop. This means corporate revenues will fall, causing nationwide layoffs, which further reduces non-essential spending in a positive feedback loop. And he’s also planning to gut the government safety nets that specifically help reduce the strength of that feedback loop by providing income to the unemployed.

The average is a very bad statistic is the underlying distribution is skewed. Depending on context, the mode or median are better. In my country the mode is often used when talking about income.

Or put another way:

You have 99 homeless persons in a room. The average net worth of people in the room is ~ $0. Now assume Elon Musk walks into the room and say his net worth is ~ $300 billion. Now the average net worth of everyone in that room is ~ $3 billion — in short, you have a room full of billionaires.

But once Elmo walking outta the room…

Undetermined time horizon here. Maybe a $4k raise in the short term but at what long term cost?

My net amount went up less than $100 per half. I normally would get back $5000 plus from my taxes, however Trumps tax code changes actually resulted in me paying federal taxes. So ya, I didn’t get jack shit.

Even if you gave a flat $4,000.00 to every person, what do you think that would do to grocery store prices?

Trump will give Americans a net of 0. Yeah let’s see that no tax on OT, social security, tips . Meanwhile the government is getting wrecked and labor costs and inflation continues to increase. Obamacare gets wrecked and millions will have to pay more for medical. I got my chair and beer for the bonfire. Once the protests start … here comes the far right with violence and instability….I. Can’t. Wait.

I guess she couldn’t be bothered using median rather than average. Wonder why…

Cutting your taxes isn’t raising your salary.

We could have had an actual rocket scientist

Disingenuous Weenie would make for a sick band name

Whenever someone uses average instead of median they are probably trying to mislead.

What would the *median* American family get?

“On average, American families…”

Not “the average American family”

What president what tax plan.

This is why rich people love using “averages” to lie. Most of us aren’t getting anything but crumbs.

Hey Arkansas, you feeling the pain under her boot yet?

She’s a TROLL WITH A HAIRY BACK

Person 1 gets 1,000,000

Person 2-10 get nothing

Person 11-25 pay 6k more

Now we’re talkin!

The biggest issue is the tax refunds are deficit spending, so basically borrowed money that has to be paid back, with interest. Only under-educated people don’t see this

The 2017 tax cut made mine go up. My usual deductions were over the new standard deduction amount, but a bunch of my deductions got disallowed.

Ask them what the median American gets and hear the silence

This is why it’s important to differentiate between the mean, median, and mode

It’s probably closer to:

Person 1 gets $200,000
Person 2-25 pay $4000

The average person gets $4000.

They just say random numbers to give the appearance of caring about money or stats. All they care about is rape and putting rapists in power. And they did it lolol

This is why we need to keep fighting for change. The system is clearly working for the rich and not for the rest of us. We deserve better!

As they say: lies, damn lies and statistics

Wages rose 4% last year, from what i hear.

Lol yea….WHOSE wages? Cause it wasn’t anyone working for their wage.

Also add in the cost of his tax *increases* (aka, tariffs).

I went for a walk with my dog. On average we had three legs.
