Thereโ€™s a whole lot more at stake if F1 drivers follow suit. The DTS cash cow would be decimated.

In the early 1980s Niki Lauda had to do a press conference that he *really* didnโ€™t want to do.

He walked in, sat down, and said these 6 words (and only these 6 words) :

> Car good, engine good, tyres good.

The he stood up and walked out.

Every driver, in every category, should do exactly this.

Drivers need to realize that without them, the sport is nothing. Unionized protests like this will work

Good. Canโ€™t wait for the F1 drivers to do the same.

Just to be clear,[ I believe this all started when WRC driver Adrien Fourmaux was fined $10k for swearing](https://rallyjournal.com/adrien-fourmaux-speaks-out-after-e10000-fine-for-swearing-really-unfortunate/).

[I know somebody already posted a news article about it here](https://www.reddit.com/r/formula1/comments/1jescgk/ot_wrc_drivers_protest_fourmaux_fine_with/), but not the official statement from the drivers. Just want to make sure that was covered.

[You can watch the drivers’ responses to the media here](https://www.reddit.com/r/WRC/comments/1jesbia/wrc_drivers_are_protesting_the_fia_swearing_ban/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button). It’s very interesting to see how each driver is reacting to the situation.

Great example from the WRC drivers, I hope drivers in F1 and other FIA championships will follow.

This should be the default stance imo

Good initiative, now letโ€™s hope more follow suit

Too damn fucking right

It’s insane that FIA is OK with drivers having to do interviews literally seconds after risking their life but it’s swearing that FIA is worried about.

Would be hilarious if they not only answered in their native language, but gave everyone a crash course in curse words in their language.

Once again the WRC is showing itself to be the most mature motorsport category over the clownfiesta that continues to be F1.

The F1 drivers didn’t stand in solidarity with Max like these guys are doing with Fourmaux, no spine.

edit: Further proof Max ought to drive in the WRC at some point.

Fantastic! It needs a proper stand, letters and statements haven’t made any difference so the next step is needed. Good on them for taking it further.

Insert Juha Kankkunen’s school of answering questions.

“Tires? Black, Round, Pirelli”

Im glad they are taking action agains this ridiculousness

FINALLY! Now F1 drivers need to join in too!

the FIA cant have drivers doing hours or interviews, shove cameras in their faces all day and then expect them to control everything they say. I really do hope the F1 drivers follow suit and give the absolute minimum answers to interviews.

Folks did swear on the radio in the first race but I havenโ€™t seen any action been taken. Is it because it was no on the cut for the viewers?

Honestly Iโ€™m all for this. Actions speak louder than wordsโ€ฆ literally.

They should protest by only letting out swearwords, nothing else. They can’t fine *everyone*, and if they collectively do not pay, they can’t ban *everyone*.

As usual WRC drivers being the ones with the balls to act.

I pity the German pilots who will speak in their native language in which any word sounds like a swearword .

All my homies hate MBS

FIA treating drivers like children … SMH

remember KIDS, santa gonna give you coal if you keep swearing on radio ~~~

if you want the show to be kids friendly it should be up to liberty to censor parts of the radio out from the viewers

They should all just follow Marshawn Lynch
