Do people not know that Google Maps shows different versions of maps depending on where you’re viewing it from? I highly doubt they changed it outside of the US
Edit: I just checked myself as I live in the UK and it shows “Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)”. Thanks Google /s

This is allowed by Article 76 of the 1982 Law of the Sea Convention. And while the U.S. is not a signatory it is considered the applicable international law.
