The weight limit is usually set for what workers are allowed to lift unaided. And they have to draw a line. Also overhead bins can handle only so much.
As annoying as it is, they need to draw the line *somewhere*. Making exceptions doesn’t work when that might mean the plane doesn’t have enough fuel to safely get from A to B. One thing you could do is put some of the heavier stuff in the suitcase last so you can easily pull some out if you’re a little over.
This is a stupid argument in my book.
When hired you are required to lift 50 pounds. It’s not about weight on the plane it’s about being safe for the people hauling your shit around. There are a few airlines that you can pay if it is over. They need to mark the bag and fetch a single person to lift the bag that is not bound by the 50 pound weight limit.
It really just is t difficult to weigh your bag before you go to the airport….
Fking hate when they don’t let me have 20.000001 kgs on baggage and then I have to sit next to with 120kg dude. Like cmon, really?
That’s why I weigh it when I pack so I don’t have to rummage through my things while other people are watching
I hate it when they won’t let me bring my TUNGSTEN suitcase filled with OSMIUM !!! Why can’t they just try lifting a little bit harder…
It’s to save gas bc high prices back in 2008, I mean, make the aircraft lighter and thereby faster, I mean it’s save the environment bc emissions are lesser, I mean to save the workers backs.
It’s hard to imagine 50 pounds of clothes. Most hotels quality HOTELS have have the other things you would need that would add serious weight to your bag
