They only thing people are upset about is which class can hold the monopoly on violence, the Stockholm syndrome people will want to keep it with the upper class. Meanwhile, peasants are sharpening their pitchforks…

I read that their profit margin was only ~5%. So if they only make 5% while denying 32% of claims, how are they even still in business? That’s hardly even operating as an insurance company isn’t it?

The rich believe in the prosperity gospel, where god gives money to those who are worthy. Put another way, they believe if you’re not rich, it’s because you’re a bad person. The US healthcare system is their way of weeding out those “undesirables”.
They’re not going to meddle with “God’s work”.

In North America, it’s strictly a numbers game with how much profit can be made for the shareholders void of any emotion and empathy. I’m lucky to live in a country with Universal Healthcare but man, the other industries (like groceries), have really used this opportunity to gun for the pockets of everyday citizens. The problem with that is that they have squeezed as much out of these citizens as possible. They have consolidated all their wealth off the backs of the middle class. What goes up, must come down.
Healthcare is only one piece of our capitalist and the average 70,000 a year who die from lack of healthcare due to capitalist drive for profit is an outrageous number. You could write a single page essay on deaths from capitalism with more staggering statistics than the black book of communism even with all of its embellishments

Nah, one can be dismayed at both the healthcare system and the idea that somehow people can actually think that premeditated murder is the answer to current healthcare related concerns.

America’s Health Insurance is utter garbage, but people need to stop acting like Health Insurance will prevent every death, if present. USA has a lot more lethal health issues than that. People are fat, people eat garbage, people don’t exercise, people smoke, people die of hard drugs.
Also – and this is worse – they need to stop justifying a lynch mob, celebrating a murder (that’s what it was, not just a killing – cold blood murder) like an event of liberation, that is “justified” or “okay” because they project their misery on people that are more successful than they are themselves. Acting like they’re personally responsible for them being miserable.
It’s easy to blame somebody, even more if you don’t know them – it’s hard to get your own ass off the chair, think about what you want, what you’re willing to invest for it and then actually doing things, you think are worth the effort. (and also shutting up about the things you want to have, but you’re not willing to work for)
the rich prioritize rich human lives more than poor human lives. the 7,500 deaths per minute are poor humans and therefore the system is working as designed for the rich.

If you were to class it as a war it would be one of the most lethal wars right now.

I’ve gotten into it on several subs, but I’m just amazed at how many people don’t understand that violence comes in other forms beyond physical confrontation. Being able to deny healthcare, let alone life-saving healthcare, is a form of violence. Relying on an algorithm to automatically deny healthcare is also violence. Health insurance companies are inherently violent; just because they aren’t pointing a gun at you doesn’t mean the end result of their actions is any different.

People just aren’t aware of the hell many Americans go through with their health insurance. They are, however, aware that a man with a grudge assassinated the CEO of a health insurance company. If people knew how shitty health insurance companies are, perhaps they’d sing a different tune, but the way things are, the media is successfully feeding them the opinion they want them to feel.

While I do get the point of that tweet, it is also true that it is much easier to get outraged when the incident actually has an actual face and person put behind it. When someone say Bob Doe, 40, family man, here his photo with his family, was gunned down, it will be always much more impactful than saying during this month 70000 people have died due to X. A person people can relate to. A statistic they cannot.

They are more worried about smarmy comments and police response time for CEOs than the 2, TWO!!, school shootings we have had since then. The rich care NOTHING! for you. Democrat or republican, doesn’t matter.
FFS, there are a billion Luigi and CEO posts but almost nothing on the school shootings.
PS, my son learned about Columbine and did ALICE training yesterday and then I found out about the shooting. He’s 11 and was very upset he had to learn about kids dying in school at 840am, while in school.

Aren’t we all in this sub because we hate working miserable jobs for crap pay and benefits? Just stop going to the doctor. Live as healthy as you choose. There’s no way I want to live to 80+ in this society. I’ve quit drinking, I run every day, I’m in the best shape of my life. I’ll be damned if I have to fight with an insurance company’s policies at end of life. Call me cynical if you like.
