That is just the door trim or casing. That piece comes off and is easily and quite inexpensive to replace.

The Furry Menace: How Your Feline Friend Can Leave You Feeling "Door-stranged"

As many cat owners can attest, the sweet companionship and affection of our feline friends often comes with a price – the occasional (and sometimes frequent) destruction of household items. For one unsuspecting homeowner, this price took the form of a destroyed inner door, leaving a trail of splintered wood, shredded curtains, and bewildered questions in its wake.

The incident, which occurred last weekend, started innocently enough. A lazy Sunday afternoon was transformed into a chaotic scene as the cat, a normally placid and affectionate creature, suddenly and without warning, decided to reorganize the interior decor of the house.

In the span of mere minutes, the cat’s enthusiastic endeavors reduced the once-innocent door to a mangled mess of wooden fragments, torn fabric, and dangling hinges. It was as if the animal had undergone a sudden, mysterious transformation, channeling its pent-up energy and creative urges into a Herculean feat of destructive artistry.

As homeowners and cat lovers alike will attest, the consequences of a cat’s creative output can be both fascinating and infuriating. In this particular case, the outcome was a door that could best be described as a crumpled, post-apocalyptic relic, defying repair and inspiring widespread wonder.

The aftermath of the destruction was marked by a flurry of activity as owners scrambled to clean up the mess, assess the damage, and ponder the mysterious motivations behind the feline frenzy. "We just couldn’t believe our eyes," said Sarah Jenkins, the homeowner in question. "One minute everything was normal, and the next, our poor door was being transformed into kindling."

As the cleanup process commenced, experts pointed out that the cat’s destructive behavior was likely linked to boredom, excess energy, or a desire for attention. "Cats need stimulation and exercise to maintain their mental and physical well-being," explained veterinarian Dr. Emily Wilson. "When they don’t get enough, they might redirect their energy towards seemingly random or destructive activities – like knocking over a lamp or, in this case, disassembling a door."

In the days that followed, the homeowner opted for a combination of patience, creative problem-solving, and cat-friendly decor alternatives to prevent future disasters. As for the mangled door, it became an unlikely conversation piece – a testament to the unexpected yet captivating power of our feline friends.

And so, the next time your cat decides to transform a room into a temporary cat-astrophe zone, take a deep breath, dust off your handyman skills, and join the ranks of the beleaguered yet bewitched cat owners who can proudly declare: "Our door may be destroyed, but our love for our feline friends remains stronger than ever."

Idk what to do my cat keeps scratching the inner door part to the point that the bottom (shown in picture) is basically gone, I have no clue what that part is called or how to fix it I haven’t found anything to protect it for now.
