Dip toilet paper in bleach and pack it into the corners along the caulk. Let it sit overnight. In the morning it’ll be good as new.

Cut / pull the caulk out. Apply new caulk.

Using a mold stain and mildew stain cleaner worked for me. If the caulk needs replacing, I would request the landlord handle it. I forgot what brand I used but I think this is it.

I just fixed mine about 2-3 months ago.

1. Cut out caulk

2. Apply bleach gel. Let it sit for at least 6 hours. Rinse off. Let dry. About 10 years ago, I bought bleach gel pens at about $4 each and used 4. Now they have bleach gel in bigger bottles that are cheaper.

3. Apply new caulk.

Here’s the best caulking technique.

No wet finger. No painters tape. No misting with soapy water.

Use a caulking tool and get long lasting results.

> I have had that same thought about spraying soapy water, etc., on the caulk right after you put it on—the spray will get everywhere, and drip down the wall
> OK I just did my first four vertical seams, and here’s my contribution:
> When I wipe the caulk off the tool, I end up getting it all over. SO: I cut a bunch of paper towels into 4” squares. This size was easier to control; and I could wipe about three, maybe four passes on each square (always wiping it onto the same side, usually inside the curve, so I could keep track of where NOT to touch the towel), and then throw it away and get a new one.

I just put toilet bleach on it, comes up like new. thoroughly rinse off before you use it.

Maybe one of those little handheld steam blaster things? I had one work for me once.

Get the strongest gel toilet cleaner you can find, put it on the mould, roll up toilet paper and put this over the toilet cleaner so it stays in contact with the mould. Leave it for a couple of hours.

I would use GlassGuard – miracle mold stain cleaner. That stuff works and it scares me. I’ve had problems with grout in the shower for years. I’ve tried every product and it’s never worked. It usually removes some of the mold but it always leaves some behind. This GlassGuard cleaned everything up so well that I worry it’s tricking me or it’s very unhealthy. It cleaned the stubborn grout and even the caulking too.

Does anyone have experience with GlassGuard? There must be something really dangerous in it for it to work so well. If anyone has any information on why I shouldn’t use it, please let me know.

Put in new wetroom silicone

Bleach

People say bleach or re-caulk. Mildew cleaner works really well most of the time.

I used Cilet Bang black mould remover. Sprayed it on liberally once a day for about a week. Sorted it right out

Don’t use bleach. Bleach mixed with mold creates a very toxic substance. Spray with vinegar, leave the room for 15 minutes, then come back and wipe away as much as you can. Then, cut out the caulk and re-caulk it. Use gloves and a mask if you can.

start with bleach. May need a razor blade after. If still there, remove caulk and re-do

How to Remove Mold and Mildew from Your Home

Mold and mildew are common problems that can occur in any home, especially in areas with high humidity and poor ventilation. These fungi can cause unpleasant odors, discoloration, and even health issues if left unchecked. In this article, we’ll provide a step-by-step guide on how to remove mold and mildew from your home.

Identifying the Source of the Problem

Before you start removing the mold and mildew, it’s essential to identify the source of the problem. Check for any water leaks, condensation, or poor ventilation in the affected area. Fixing the underlying issue will help prevent future mold growth.

Gather the Necessary Equipment

To remove mold and mildew, you’ll need the following equipment:

  • A pair of rubber gloves
  • A face mask or respirator
  • A scrub brush or soft-bristled brush
  • A solution of bleach and water (1 part bleach to 10 parts water)
  • A cleaning cloth or paper towels
  • A fan or dehumidifier (optional)

Removing Mold and Mildew

  1. Contain the Area: Use plastic sheets or tarps to contain the affected area to prevent the mold spores from spreading to other parts of your home.
  2. Wear Protective Gear: Put on your rubber gloves, face mask, and protective eyewear to prevent exposure to mold spores.
  3. Scrub the Area: Use a soft-bristled brush or scrub brush to gently scrub the moldy area. Avoid using abrasive materials that can damage surfaces.
  4. Apply the Bleach Solution: Mix the bleach solution and apply it to the affected area using a cleaning cloth or paper towels. Make sure to wear gloves and avoid inhaling the fumes.
  5. Let it Sit: Allow the bleach solution to sit on the mold for 10-15 minutes to help kill the mold spores.
  6. Rinse and Dry: Use clean water to rinse the area thoroughly, and then dry it with a clean towel or let it air dry.
  7. Disinfect: Use a disinfectant spray or solution to disinfect the area to prevent the growth of new mold.

Additional Tips

  • Dry the Area: Use a fan or dehumidifier to dry the area completely to prevent future mold growth.
  • Clean and Disinfect: Clean and disinfect all surfaces, including walls, floors, and ceilings, to prevent the spread of mold spores.
  • Check for Hidden Areas: Check for hidden areas where mold and mildew may be growing, such as behind walls, under carpets, or in attics.
  • Consider Professional Help: If the mold infestation is severe or widespread, consider hiring a professional mold remediation service to ensure the job is done safely and effectively.

Preventing Future Mold Growth

To prevent future mold growth, make sure to:

  • Fix Water Leaks: Fix any water leaks or condensation issues promptly to prevent moisture buildup.
  • Improve Ventilation: Improve ventilation in your home by opening windows, using fans, or installing a dehumidifier.
  • Use a Mold-Resistant Paint: Use a mold-resistant paint on walls and ceilings to help prevent mold growth.
  • Regularly Clean and Disinfect: Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces to prevent the growth of mold and mildew.

By following these steps and tips, you can effectively remove mold and mildew from your home and prevent future growth. Remember to always prioritize your health and safety when dealing with mold and mildew.

I’ve tried bleach, comet, and Lysol bathroom foamer. It’s also hard to get off the grout between the tiles.
